A huge congrats to our client Bumpidoodle for getting their furry little gang back on Target shelves for the second go-around!
Bumpidoodle is a Minneapolis-based company that produces “pillows with personality.” Each bumpidoodle is the combination of a floor cushion and a plush stuffed animal. Currently there are 6 characters available for purchase, with 4 more characters launching this fall.
Each bumpidoodle has a unique personality and story to share. Some of our favorites include Dillon Dog, Ellie Elephant, Leonard Lion, Mason Monkey, Parker Pig and Toby Turtle.

Bumpidoodle’s Marketing Strategy
Getting your product on Target shelves is a huge feat. But Bumpidoodle wanted to take it a step further by doing their own marketing online. Snap is privileged to partner with Bumpidoodle in their efforts, including social media marketing, a Bumpidoodle website, and an ecommerce strategy on Amazon.
What We Did to Promote Bumpidoodle on Social Media:
For the Bumpidoodle social media strategy, we began with developing a plan that would support the launch of the Bumpidoodle floor cushions in Target stores across the county. By choosing relevant social media channels, specifically Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Pinterest, we were able to build a bumpidoodle community and turn fans into brand advocates.
Video
To help facilitate the growth of the social media channels, we developed videos to highlight the unique traits and personality of each character, starting with Toby Turtle. The video was promoted through the bumpidoodle social media channels and distributed to mommy bloggers and video syndication channels. The goal of the video was to develop the personality and charm of each character that would appeal to kids and parents. The videos are hosted on YouTube, where they have received over 19,000 views (combined) to date.
The Bumpidoodle brand on Pinterest has been a tremendous success. Through the visual bulletin board qualities of the channel, we’ve been able to further develop the brand’s personality and charm by creating specific boards for each character. Pinterest has consistently been the top traffic source for bumpidoodle.com
Facebook has been our home base for the bumpidoodle social media strategy. We use this channel to create a dialogue between the brand and their loyal fans. We post photos, tell jokes, give recipes, and encourage users to interact with the website and other social media channels.
Blogger Outreach
Through blogger outreach we have been able to connect with influential mommy bloggers to review and blog about the bumpidoodle floor cushions. This method has provided the bumpidoodle brand with broader awareness in its target market and valuable backlinks to their website.
Building Out the Bumpidoodle Website:
The Bumpidoodle website was developed with the idea that eventually the product line would grow and the site would sell a wide range of bumpidoodle products. It was designed to be cute, playful and easy to navigate. The design is appealing to children and parents.
Phase 1 of the site was to support the launch of Bumpidoodle in Target stores. Phase 2 of the website was to develop a platform to support bumpidoodle sales on Amazon. Phase 3 for bumpidoodle.com will be the development of a full ecommerce website to sell products directly from bumpidoodle.com.
The website is the backbone of the bumpidoodle marketing plan. Users can find more information about the characters, print coloring pages and even make Toby Turtle’s lasagna. All of the Bumpidoodle social media channels are integrated into the site and easy to access.
Ecommerce Strategy on Amazon
After the launch of bumpidoodle in Target stores and other brick and mortar retailers, we went forward with doing a slight redesign of the website to encourage visitors to purchase the product on Amazon.com. We set up an Amazon store specifically for the bumpidoodle product line, and the first month’s sales exceeded all expectations! The expected sales for the first month was 15 units. The actual sales for the month of August was 50 units.
