New Website Checklist

By Snap Agency September 21, 2013

Launching a new website can be both an exciting and stressful time. You’ve done all the work, written all of the content, perfected your design, and now it is time to do your final sweep to make sure it is exactly how you imagined. Here we’ve come up with a simple checklist to help you reach the peace of mind you deserve when releasing your site to the public.

Part One: Editing

When launching a website, there is nothing more embarrassing than an irritating typo, grammar error, or realizing that something you wrote sounds nothing like you wanted it to. This part is especially important if you intend to have your content shared across social channels. Check, double-check, and triple-check all of your content and have another set of eyes read through everything so that you are certain that your writing is coming across correctly. Ask yourself or a reader these three questions: Is this helpful? Does this make sense? Is it important?

Part Two: Web Design

Design is one of the most important parts of a website. It has the power to attract a visitor to even the most boring of topics and this is where you will want to pay a lot of attention to the little details.

When looking at your site from a visual standpoint, make sure that all of the formatting is consistent; fonts, images, and spacing should all be uniform and aligned correctly. Then, visit your website on all of the common browsers. Sometimes you website can look great on one browser and be completely different on another- don’t let this happen to you.

Part Three: Web Development

Don’t forget to click on every single link, tab, and form throughout your site. Visitors to your site may be turned away very quickly if they become frustrated with a lack of functionality. If your contact page includes a form for inquiries- make sure that it is working correctly and is sending those to the right place, it would be a shame to miss out on any potential customers or feedback for your business.

Part Four: Analytics

Last, you will want to make sure that your analytics are installed correctly. This allows you to measure and statistics, conversion rates, monthly views and the overall success of your site. You can check on how any changes made to your site influence how well it is doing and it can provide you with educated decisions on any future changes you make.
