Let Social Media be your Megaphone

Dig for Data

First things first: gather your data. Find out where people are sharing your products. Figure out which social media platforms would best suit your business. Use applications that help you follow social sharing trends. AddThis is a site that can help you assess which social channels to use.

Prepare Profiles

At the bare minimum, your eCommerce site should have a Facebook page. Facebook will create traction with your social media efforts. Twitter can also be great for broadcasting company sales, corporate culture, or interesting articles. You want to use channels that make the most impact for you.

Sharp Sharing

Most sites use the same old sharing widgets. Integrate sharing into many different facets of your website design. Figure out where the best place to put your ‘SHARE’ button is. Be mindful of website eye path and how that will affect your users.

Captivate Customers

Boring content won’t get you anywhere. Discover what your customers are passionate about. Engage with them over social channels. Promote sales and products via short blurbs while maintaining continuity across all of your channels.

Express Exclusivity

Make your call to action actionable. Tell your customers why they need to follow your brand. Include special offers, discounts, and tips as incentive to follow your social channels.

Subdue Sales

Remember that sales aren’t everything. Yes, they are the lifeblood of an eCommerce company. But repeat customers can tell their friends about your brand and spread the word organically.

Customer Service & Social

Your social channels now become your customer service channel. People are most likely to send you a quick note on Facebook about a problem than hassle with your customer service directory on your site. Meet them where they’re at. Interact with them and be a brand representative.
