In September 2014 Snap faced a challenge. Our account manager, Morgan, was just days away from Maternity leave and frantically getting Danielle, who had started just weeks earlier up to speed. Luckily, Snap had just brought on a new intern, Sumia. Fresh out of the University of St. Thomas, Sumia joined us eager to learn and help out where she could. If you stop by Snap on a Friday afternoon, she can usually be found singing along to today’s top hits at her desk. Sumia fills in the gaps and keeps the rest of us organized, which is no easy task. She’s got the same “work hard, play hard” attitude the rest of us do. She’s been a great fit in our ranks from the get-go.
What was your first concert like?
My first concert was Aaron Carter. I was 8 years old and he was my heartthrob, I just loved him. I had his poster in my room, his cd cover in my locker, and I swore that he was going to be the love of my life. It was in Minnesota, I think at the state fair. I was with my mom and my best friend at the time. She and I begged our parents to take us and we said to them, “we’re going either way, whether you take us or not.” We were pretty sassy 8 year olds. My mom ended up coming with me but I think she ended up enjoying it.
What do you do for Snap?
I started off as an intern and now I’m an Account/Project Manager. I handle web builds, SEO and webmaster clients. Some clients require strategy meetings, some need collaboration with designers and copywriters to implement web design, blog posts, you name it.
What do you like most about your role?
I love telling people what to do. Just kidding! I like to organize things and plan out day to day tasks for everyone, but I like talking to clients the most. When I was deciding what I wanted to do, that was really important to me. I like to be able to communicate with clients and make sure that their expectations are met or exceeded when they come to us.
What do you like most about Snap?
I like the people I work with, it’s really chill and relaxed. I can come to work in jeans and a sweater and play ping pong. We can get to know each other as people and not just co-workers.
What makes you happy?
Spending time with my friends and family and two puppies. If I have any one of those three things, I’m a happy camper. I spend most of my time at home but when I’m not there I’m with my friends. They bring out the best of me. I don’t know what I’d do if it wasn’t for them.
